(Vineland) – At a press conference in his Vineland campaign office, Dr. Jeff Van Drew was officially endorsed by Social Security Works PAC. Jon “Bowzer” Bauman, former member of Sha Na Na and President of Social Security Works PAC, formally presented the endorsement in front of seniors from across South Jersey.

Social Security Works PAC is a national organization fighting to protect and improve the economic security of aging American men and women.

"Social Security Works PAC is proud to endorse Dr. Jeff Van Drew, who will fight to protect and expand Social Security and Medicare - NOT cut them. He will also work to lower prescription drug prices by taking on big pharma,” said Jon "Bowzer" Bauman. “Sending Jeff Van Drew to Congress would improve the lives of older Americans. In contrast, his opponent Seth Grossman supports massive cuts to the American people's earned benefits.”

In his remarks to the dozens of seniors who attended the press conference, Dr. Jeff Van Drew reiterated his unyielding commitment to protect Social Security and Medicare.

“Social Security and Medicare are a handshake agreement, a golden agreement, between the federal government and the American people, an agreement we must uphold,” said Dr. Van Drew. “Seniors have worked hard their entire lives to earn these benefits, and I will always stand strong and protect Social Security and Medicare, so every American can retire with dignity.”

The issue of protecting Social Security and Medicare proved to be a flashpoint in the Wednesday night NJ-02 Congressional debate hosted by Stockton University. During the debate, Dr. Van Drew was unwavering in his promise to always defend these programs, while Seth Grossman refused to oppose Washington schemes to slash Seniors’ earned benefits.

Jeff Van Drew is a practicing dentist from Dennis Township, and is the Senator for New Jersey’s 1st Legislative District. Van Drew is running for Congress in New Jersey’s 2nd Congressional District, which includes all or parts of New Jersey’s eight southernmost counties.
